Bill Walters- Certified Rolfer™
Dear Colleagues:
I write this letter to offer my services to the Board of Directors of the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute.
What I can to bring to the board is my experience as a lifelong university professor and administrator, and my passion for the work and vision of Dr. Rolf and all of us who strive to continue and further her legacy.
Rolfing® has been on my radar since I was exposed to it as graduate student. It was only years later that I finally had the >me to fulfill the long-held dream of becoming certified as a Rolfer™. In the meantime, I had a twenty-plus-year career at both public and private educational institutions such as Yale University, Tulane University, University of Wisconsin, and City University of New York. I held both teaching and administrative positions at all of these. I served on and headed committees focused on curriculum, recruitment, budgets and allocations, grant writing, student and faculty development, assessment, and ethics. After leaving education, I gained experience in the private sector in curriculum development and marketing within the health and wellness sector (yoga, tai chi, qigong, meditation) with a particular focus on national and global outreach.
As a professor of theatre and dance, one of my primary activities was international exchange. This is a life-long passion of mine which can be seen in the pursuit of my certification as well. I began my studies at the ERA in Munich in 2019 and completed them in Boulder. I am grateful for and would be committed to international communication within the global Rolfing® community.
I also have the ability to be a conduit between the new generations of students and graduates, and those who are firmly established as long-time practitioners and teachers. This intersect is something that I am particularly interested in and would love to have the opportunity to encourage its development.
When working with individual clients, we are all privileged to bear witness to profound change on the personal level. I believe that Rolfing® has the capacity to do this on a larger societal scale. Dr Rolf’s vision and the subsequent developments that have taken place through the efforts of practitioners, teachers, and staff is something I look forward to assisting and supporting by serving on the board.
I gratefully acknowledge all my teachers in the US and Europe, their teaching assistants, my classmates, the staff, and the clients who have made this work so meaningful and effective over the years. It would be an honor to serve in this capacity.
Respectfully,
Bill Walters
