The first part of this lecture gives an overview of the traditional Rolfing work on the PSOAS as it was taught by Ida Rolf and her teachers of the first generation. In addition we will discuss the manual approach, developed by Ida Rolf´s son, Richard Demmerle DC. We will look a t the benefits of the traditional work and discuss its limitations and potential risks.
The second part focuses on the anatomical characteristics of the PSOAS and its neighboring structures. Special attention will be paid to the connections to the visceral elements within the different spaces, that the PSOAS runs through. We will describe the interaction of PSOAS MAJOR and PSOAS MINOR with the fascia of the kidneys and the inner bridges to the digestive tract.
And after that we will suggest and discuss several new manual techniques for the manual treatment of PSOAS MAJOR and PSOAS MINOR. We will include movement education for the client and also present new combined ways of manual treatment and movement work.
