Admission Requirements for Rolfing® Courses

Before you apply to study Rolfing® at the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute, please take a moment to review the following requirements.

This will ensure you are eligible to apply and have all the necessary documents ready to complete your application form.

Entry Documents for Rolfer™ Applications

We have Rolfing® programs open for applications from both experienced bodyworkers and those completely new to bodywork. All applicants must submit the following documents:


Receive Rolfing® Sessions from a Certified Rolfer®

In addition to submitting the documents listed above, all applicants must receive the following Rolfing® sessions:

Receive the Rolfing Ten-Series®

Applicants must provide proof of completion of a full Rolfing® Ten-Series from a Certified Rolfer®.

DIRI reserves the right to require a physician's release for any student.

Receive Rolf Movement® Sessions

Three Rolf Movement sessions with a Certified Rolf Movement Practitioner® must be completed by the end of Phase II of Rolfing® training. At least one must be completed before the start of Phase II.

Entry Requirements for Transfer Students

We welcome experienced bodyworkers who have completed some prior training. Students who plan to transfer hours into the Rolfing® Certification Program must provide the following:


  • Proof of Bodywork Program Completion >>

Documentation demonstrating completion of a minimum 250-hour bodywork program.

  • Official Transcript >>

Your transcript must include:

  • At least 47 hours of Anatomy
  • At least 21 hours of Physiology
  • At least 45 hours of Massage OR another approved touch training
  • At least 15 hours of Therapeutic Relationships
  • Clinical Experience Documentation >>

Provide evidence of 50 documented hours of post-graduate massage practice OR comparable clinical experience.
